To facilitate access to justice for citizens, notaries are now entitled to file your application with the court, and thereby minimize or eliminate the need to present yourself personally to the court for filing your case.

Here is an overview:

  • To make a list of the significant assets of each spouse created after the marriage
  • To agree on the division of those assets
  • To agree on the sharing of retirement pensions accumulated after the marriage,
  • To agree on the amount of the spousal support, if any (the spousal support is not mandatory),
  • To agree on or respect the clauses set in their prenuptial contract, if any

If you have minor or financially dependent children, you need to meet with our accredited family mediator to:

  • Agree on parental time (childcare)
  • Determine the child support amount (mandatory)
